My Year in Reading:
2020 was a strange year for all of us in many ways. Since I’ve always been an avid reader, I found that my reading habits didn’t change much. I read 177 books in 2020, and I wrote 120 reviews, including those here on my blog, as well as a few other sites I occasionally write reviews for. Throughout the year, I keep a running list of the books I consider my favorites, with the thought of culling it down to a top ten. Once again, I couldn’t get down to ten, so below are my top sixteen favorite books I read last year. Next to each title is a link to my review, as well as a direct buy link to Amazon, should you be so inclined. All of these books were five star reads for me, as well as a few being top picks. Rose, I love your reviews! I haven’t read all of the above yet, but I will finish up later. So far, I’ve either purchased or added to my wish list the ones I have read. Even though I’ve already read one of Mimi Matthews’ book (and currently reading the other,) I read your review just to find out how you liked it. Isn’t she just wonderful? Now I want to go back and reread the Orphans series, or listen to them as I have the audio versions. I’m reading Gentleman Jim now.
Naturally since these books are on your top 16 books, I feel confident I will like them too. There are a couple of new to me authors on your list. But I felt your frustration on trying to name just a top 10, especially since you read 177 books this year. I came close to that number myself, and I voted for my top 10 on another blog. Impossible.

Oh, you won’t find my personal list there as the blog mistress Meredith, from Austenesque Reviews takes everyone’s lists and does the math to make a Reader’s Top Ten list. Austen fan fiction is one of my favorite genres, but Meredith and apparently quite a few of her readers agree with your love of Mimi Matthews. 🙂 So that top 10 was ONLY JAFF. That genre has grown in leaps and bounds. And that growth has gifted its fans with some amazingly talented writers and wonderful stories. As with anything that grows there is a bell curve, and with the gold comes some brass.
I never even bothered to create a top 10 of all my reads of ’20. I will consider it for the end of ’21 though, now that you’ve given me the idea.

Ah! Got it. I wonder – have you read Molly Greeley then? I have a book by her on my TBR list, and the opportunity to pick up her latest. If you have read her JAFF, what are your thoughts?
