My Review:

Emma and Alaric, the Duke and Duchess of Strathaven, are hosting a New Years house party at their home, Strathmore Castle, for their extended family and friends. Like the hosts, many of the guests are couples who have received their happy ever afters in previous books, and we now get a glimpse into their current lives. Among others, the guests include Tessa and Harry, Bea and Wick, Marianne and Ambrose, and Violet and Richard.
While it’s a joyous holiday season, and the attendees are well entertained, and certainly well fed, there are still some underlying issues and concerns affecting the happiness of many. The problems range from exhaustion to imagined lack of interest from spouses to concern for relatives’ destructive habits and unhappy marriages.
While I have read most of these couples’ stories previously, I haven’t yet read them all. Yet, I didn’t feel a bit lost as Grace Callaway included the necessary information about their situations. It was done in such a way as to not be repetitive for someone who is aware of their history, but to bring a new reader up to speed quickly.
STEAMY WINTER WISHES is a very short novella, yet it contained plenty of warmth and emotion as it explored each couple’s relationship with each other, as well as their friendships. I think my favorite couple in this story is Marianne and Ambrose, who have been married over twenty years and are well into middle age, yet still have a decidedly passionate and loving relationship. I also was very intrigued by the glimpse of Hadleigh, Bea’s troubled brother, and the hint of his own upcoming story. STEAMY WINTER WISHES is a sweet and touching read, one filled with plenty of family love, holiday joy, passion, and lasting romance. ~Rose
