Happy 2020! Looking back over my reading in 2019, I realize that, once again, I could not pick just ten favorite books. It was very hard to whittle the number down, but I’ve selected my top sixteen books – every one of them rated five stars, some of them top picks. Below is a listing of each book with a link to my review, and a direct buy link to Amazon, in case you’re tempted to indulge! I hope you’ll check out some of these wonderful books if you’re a historical romance lover. Thanks so much for visiting or following my blog. Happy reading! ~Rose

I love looking at these end of the year favorites lists from my favorite blogs. I can’t always read the reviews from each and every post, although I do the best I can. But the lists like yours give me an idea of the best out there. So, thank you for all the reviews throughout the year and your round-up at the end. I’ll be adding more than a few titles to my TBR this year.
I am happy but not surprised to see three Mimi Mathews books on your list. That’s quite an accomplishment for any author, to have more than one book on anyone’s favorites list for the year. I just ‘discovered’ Mimi Matthews myself this year, and I am so glad I did. She deserves to be on everyone’s TBR for 2020

Hi, Michelle. I always enjoy the “best of” lists, too. I like seeing if my favorite bloggers enjoyed the same books as much as I did. I’m very happy to have discovered Mimi Matthews, as she has a wonderful talent. Thanks for following the blog, and wishing you a very Happy New Year.

I read 2 1/2 of them and own 2 more on the list. It’s so hard to get to everything! Thanks for the list!

Hi, Sharlene. I got a chuckle from your comment. Wondering if you’re going to finish that 1/2 book. LOL! It is hard to keep up with so many great books out there. Happy New Year!

Rose, Mimi Matthews has become an auto-buy author for me and A Modest Independence is among my favourite books for 2019. I have A Convenient Fiction and The Work of Art on my list to read this year together with Before the Dawn. I read Devil’s Daughter and absolutely loved West and liked Phoebe, and their romance itself was engaging enough but, for me, it lacked emotional intensity. Somehow the book just did not have that special magic that I expect from Lisa Kleypas. Perhaps my expectations were a little too high.

Hi, Carol. Mimi Matthews has quickly become one of my very favorites also. I have no doubt you’ll enjoy the other two books waiting on your TBR pile. I’m anxious to get to book four of this series. I was surprised at how much I loved Before the Dawn, as it is an older book, revamped, but it’s truly outstanding. And I’m sorry that the Lisa Kleypas book didn’t live up to your expectations – maybe Chasing Cassandra will. I’m looking forward to that one too!
